athenahealth events:

Thrive Summit 2022

Thrive Summit is athenahealth’s annual customer conference. 2022 was an elaborate production, as the event was suspended for the prior two years due to the pandemic. 2022’s conference was athenahealth’s first large-scale event since 2019.

2022’s event gathered 2.2K attendees, 1.6K of which were customers. The customer attendee audience spanned all types of users: practice administrators, active medical providers, billing managers, and decision makers.

The goals were to create meaningful connections across the athenahealth ecosystem—athenahealth employees, customers, prospects, and partners, drive customer satisfaction, reduce attrition, and motivate cross sell opportunities.

Main contributions

  • Event PowerPoint Template and Training

Created a special version of the corporate PowerPoint template for Thrive. The template and visual assets I created for the new branding were the base for main stage keynotes and all other PowerPoints at the event.

Each station throughout the main conference hall used this template. The template allowed athena employees to also structure their “breakout” session content themselves, which created a cohesive, on-brand experience for attendees.

I created multiple learning opportunities: Live and recorded tutorials, written instructions, office hours, and Q & A sessions.

  • Leadership and Luminary Presentations

Leadership and Luminary presentations were heavily promoted. They were delivered on featured stages throughout the event’s main floor.

Worked with presenters to craft narratives and visuals on topics spanning virtual care, patient-provider relationships, government affairs, and athenahealth research findings.

Collaborated with athenahealth’s Chief Medical Officer, the Chief Marketing Officer of Walgreens, and the Cofounder and Chief Medical Officer of one of athenahealth’s largest customers, among other key stakeholders.

  • Keynotes

Crafted a detailed narrative for the Chief Product Officer. My role was designer, researcher, UI/UX, marketer, copywriter, and more.

Two key moments elevated the presentation: When the left and right screens displayed different slides as part of the same story. This technique was well received in its final form and inspired the format for 2023’s Chief Product Officer keynote.

Motion and animation (navigation bar expansions, seesaw gif, imagery morphs, etc.) kept viewers actively engaged.

The presentation set a standard for main stage presentations using the athenahealth’s new branding. The slides continue to be reused, even today. View the CPO’s full deck below.
